3. God has emotions.
I can almost hear my daughter say: “Duh…Captain Obvious!” Yes of course God has emotions.
Before you join the choir lets discuss this a little further. I knew that God loves us, and the bible also talks about Him being angry, jealous, showing compassion etc. So where am I going with this?
One Sunday morning I was sitting in church and as 16yr olds sometimes do, I got distracted and instead of listening to the sermon, I started paging through my bible. As my eyes wandered across the pages my mind registered a few words.
“…rejoice over you with singing…”
Wait! What? Who is singing? Where did I see that? At first I couldn’t find it, and then there it was.
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephania 3:17
It was like pouring gasoline on some glowing embers. You will remember that I’d already figured out that God didn’t have any favorites and that meant that if God was singing about anybody, He was singing about me as well!
Imagine that! Almighty God is singing about you and me!
Some translations say – shouting with joy! I couldn’t wait for church to be out so that I could go and share with my friends what I had just discovered.
In my next post, I will talk about Paying It Forward.
